Timischl’s practice brings together painting, video, sculpture, and text, often culminating in site-specific installations. Through humor and irony, his work addresses questions of visibility, class, taste, power, and the social codes of the art world. His works often appear self-aware, as if they were able to comment on the situations in which they find themselves.
Solo exhibitions include Secession Vienna, Heidelberger Kunstverein, Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen, Confort Moderne, Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, as well as St. Andräkirche with Layr and Hauser & Wirth, Paris. His work has also been presented at the Serpentine Gallery, Kunsthalle Bern, Moderna Museet, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Kunsthalle Wien, as well as the NGV Triennial and the Biennale de Lyon.
